Our Rising is Hiring!! 

We’re hiring two summer students for 8 weeks each. Successful applicants will work with our board and volunteers on our many exiting summer projects, as well as receive training upon hire and on going mentor-ship throughout the term. We are also always looking for spare drivers who have their Class 4 Unrestricted licence and lots of experience driving large vehicles. Anticipated start date: Immediately

Community Transportation Coordinator

-Administer community transportation initiative including scheduling, invoicing and coordinating drivers.

-Outreach to community organizations to promote services and solicit feedback on how they could be better served.

– Work with event coordinator to improve services to community organizations.

-Help run social media platforms.

-Work with board and volunteers to organize trips and tours and other initiatives.

Bus Tour and Trip Coordinator

-Work with Board of Directors, other staff and community to identify need and support for different bus tours around Nova Scotia.

-Create plan for each tour and trip including a list of goals met and proposed budget, itinerary and facilitators / presenters.

-Promote tour or trip

-Administer the trip registration, costs, driver schedule, day of logistics and feedback follow up.

-Work with board and volunteers to organize trips and tours and other initiatives.

Requirements:

-Strong written and verbal communication skills

-Ability to take direction from a board and be self directed in completing projects

-Shared values and a genuine interest in the goals of Our Rising

Requirements of Canada Summer Jobs

-Being between 15 and 30 years of age (inclusive) at the start of employment;

-Being a Canadian Citizen, permanent resident, or person on whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act* and;

– Being legally entitled to work according to the relevant provincial / territorial legislation and regulations

Assets:

-Creative energy to put towards projects of interest

-Flexibility in work schedule

-Understanding of Microsoft Excel and Google Spreadsheets

-Experience budgeting and organizing transactions

-Experience working with non-profit organizations

-Class 4 drivers licence
