Carpenters and Contractors
We’re looking to contract some work renovating our bus into a market, renovating a barn into a processing and workshop space, constructing a greenhouse and installing solar panels. Contact us if you are interested in learning more.
Garden Coordinator
The Garden Coordinator will be responsible for the garden that supplies our market. This will include creating gardening beds, planting, weeding, mulching and harvesting. It may include working with volunteers, helping with greenhouse assembly and other farming projects.
8 weeks / $12.95 – $20 an hour
Requirements:
-Be between ages 15 and 30
-Ability to do the physical requirements of the job (shoveling, lifting etc).
-Some knowledge of gardening.
-Ability to take direction and be self directed in completing projects
-Shared values and a genuine interest in the goal of food resilience
Assets:
-A passion for regenerative agriculture
-Understanding of core principles of regenerative medium-scale agriculture including: crop-rotation, succession planting, intercropping and soil amending.
-Several seasons of gardening or farming expereince
-Creative energy to put towards projects of interest
-Varied skills (using machinery, tools etc)
-Experience working with non-profit organizations
-Driver’s license
Mobile Market Assistant
The Mobile Farmers Market Assistant will work with the Market Coordinator to facilitate all logistical aspects of the mobile market. This may include inventory and sourcing, managing advertising and social media, working in the mobile market, stocking shelves and attending to customers. This position can be done partially online and partly in person.
8 weeks / $12.95 – $20 an hour
Requirements:

-Strong written and verbal communication skills
-Ability to take direction and be self directed in completing projects
-Shared values and a genuine interest in the goal of food resilience
Assets:
-Creative energy to put towards projects of interest
-Flexibility in work schedule
-Knowledge of communities and community groups in East Hants
-Understanding of Microsoft Excel and Google Spreadsheets
-Experience budgeting and organizing transactions
-Experience working with non-profit organizations
-Driver’s license
-Web site skills

Mobile Market Coordinator
The Mobile Farmers Market Coordinator will be responsible for organizing the mobile market. This will start with communicating with community groups to organize timing and logistics of the various market stops. They will organize marketing and promotion. They will work with the Garden Coordinator to arrange inventory ahead of market days, arrange pick ups from local farmers of supplementary stock and will coordinate volunteers working at the market. They will be responsible for tracking sales and community feedback and requests. This position can be done partially online and partly in person.
2-5 months / $12.95 – $25 an hour
